August 11, 2021 - LAKESIDE PREPRESS v1.4.2

  • NEW FEATURE - Advanced Scaling
    • Users are now able to scale by exact percentage and apply a new trim size during the process. Details on how to perform different types of scaling or trim adjustments are located here.
  • Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause extra colors to show up as colors used on a page.
  • Highlight boxes on preflight issues will now be more accurately drawn around the offending preflight issue.

 

July 19, 2021 - LAKESIDE PREPRESS v1.4.1

  • Fixed several issues that would result in thumbnails not generating properly.
  • Changed behavior on unassigned corrections to now properly display and retain the color information of the correction page(s).
  • Downloaded preflight reports will now have correct trim size and accurate reporting. There were certain situations where trim box dimension and preflight reporting would be inaccurate.
  • Adjusted the precision of the “content too close to trim” check during preflight that was leading to false positives.
  • Removed erroneous wording during a check-in of a component.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause preflight status filters to be incorrect.

WHAT'S NEW WITH LAKESIDE PREPRESS?

New name - The previous name of LSC Scout has been changed to Lakeside Prepress

New colors - Several areas of the Lakeside Prepress application have had colors changed to reflect the new company branding guidelines

New logo - The logo has been changed to reflect the new company brand guidelines

New login - Lakeside Prepress is just part of the services the Lakeside Book Company provides and now users can access all of the services via a single sign on. As part of setup an email will have gone out to set up the Lakeside Prepress user account in the system.

Browser Update
The Lakeside Prepress team recommends updating to the latest version of your web browser. Details on how to do that are located here.

NEW TOOLS

Scale/Crop
The scale/crop tool has been completely redesigned to better align with customer needs. To review how to use the scale/crop tool please follow this article in our knowledge base.

Measure Tool
A measure tool has been added to the scale/crop tab. Details on how to use the measure tool are located here.

Preflight Tab
The preflight tab has been modified to better show preflight issues when clicking on a warning or error. The entire area with the issue(s) will be highlighted in red. Also added to the preflight tab is a list of the colors found on the page that is currently being viewed.
Known issues: Occasionally the colors used on a page will state "None Specified". That is due to the title being processed before this feature was added.

Review Tab
The review tab now functions similarly to other types of chat applications to make it easier to collaborate.
Known issue: Users are currently unable to drag an area to highlight with an attached note.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • Added an advanced check that catches elements in the safety area.
  • Added a message if non-PDF types are uploaded or corrupt PDFs are uploaded.
  • Made several revisions to back end application software to account for unique types of PDF creation.
  • Substantial Automated Print Code improvements have been made.
  • Adjusted the way thumbnails load to ensure all preflight warnings are properly displayed.
  • Enlarged component cards so all information is always visible.
  • Component cards now display error or warning messages in a more clear manner so a user knows when action is required.

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed several thumbnail issues that would sometimes cause thumbnails not to render.
  • Fixed an issue where a user would sometimes receive an email with preflight warning or errors even though none were present.
  • Guides for bleeds, trim, and safety margins will no longer sometimes disappear.
  • Corrected a bug where thumbnails would not appear in unassigned corrections in certain situations.
  • Copying a title that contains unassigned correction will now copy properly.
  • History will no longer mistakenly display a page as deleted when applying a scale or center/crop.

OTHER

  • Added a lifecycle policy to customer files that automatically manages files depending on access.
  • Aligned preflight checks to standardize will all of the Lakeside Book Company.
  • All attachments to a PDF will now be removed upon initial file ingestion.

LSC Scout v1.3.1 release notes (February 15, 2020)

  • Changed wording on LSC archive retrieval requests to make it clear archive requests can take up to 24 hours.

  • Fixed an issue that would cause a prefix in folios to not be renamed properly.

LSC Scout v 1.3.0 release notes (January 18, 2020)

NEW FEATURE:

  • My Titles

  • A new filter named "My Titles" has been added. Using this tool a user can add and remove titles from the title list. This will then allow the user to filter and sort viewing only "My Titles".

  • Custom Role Sets
    • Improved the ability to create custom role sets and assign rights per user per account.
  • Background Uploader
    • A user can now upload files to multiple titles without waiting for the upload to finish.
    • Moved the browse, cancel, and upload buttons to the top of the upload window. This improves the upload experience

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Added the ability to sign off when page count in file exceeds the specification page count

  • Clarified failure to find order wording when attempting to approve to print a title that did not have specifications

  • A user can now change the default unit of measurement under user preferences. The 3 options are inches, millimeters, and points. This gives the user the flexibility to work in a unit of measurement of choice

  • Improved response time when performing a search

  • Adjust preflight requirements. Loosened tolerance and reduced checks in some areas. Added an advanced check to objects too close to trim.
  • Increased the thickness on the red lines highlighting areas with preflight issues.
  • Improved check out time when a title is being checked out for the first time for corrections.

BUG FIXES:

  • Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause the Born on Date to not appear in a PMS color if it was the only color in the file.

  • When agreeing to terms and conditions only 1 component is selected at a time.
  • The job created date will now display correctly on the job record.

LSC Scout release notes (October 28, 2020)

NEW SUPPORT TOOL:

  • A new support tool has been added to the LSC Scout interface. This replaces the old Orange ? in a circle in the bottom right corner of every webpage. Along with this new support tool--live chat has been removed. Our support team will continue to respond to issues as they have in the past just without the live chat feature. This new tool is the groundwork for some features to follow at a later announcement.

LSC Scout v 1.2.2 release notes (October 5, 2020)

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Considerably improved preflight processing time related to uploading corrections as single page PDFs

  • Job history now indicates when a file was uploaded for the first time (uploaded) versus overwritten (replaced) on subsequent uploads

  • Added a new job status filter for titles that have been requested but have not yet had files added to the title

  • Removed the requirement for a Purchase Order before allowing a title to be checked in (specifications are still required)

  • Adjusted print code features and styles and added additional tags for locating old print codes

Copy Title

Need to duplicate a title? Click the new Copy Title icon and enter the new title information. Click copy and the new title will be created.

 

Component Check Out

Added the ability to make corrections to a single component without the need to check out any other components. This can be done by clicking the Make Corrections (magic wand) icon on the component card.

 

LSC Communications Restore Archive Request

Title not located in Scout? Request files from the LSC archives. Click on the request files button and enter the ISBN or the job reference number and click request files.

 

Filters

Added new job filters to improve workflow. Select any of the new filters to display all titles that meet the filter criteria

  • Preflight issues - Filters to show all titles that have any outstanding preflight issues
  • Proof approval required - Displays all titles that have at least one page not approved
  • Rejected pages - Filters to view all titles that have at least one rejected page on any component
  • Final approval required - Displays all titles requiring Approval to Print
  • Component complete - Displays any titles that have at least one component complete (no preflight issues, final approval approved)
  • Title approved to print - Displays all titles that are ready for print (no preflight issues, final approval approved)
