NOTE: Any time more than 50 corrections are required, deleting the component and uploading the entire component is recommended. If there are cases where single-page PDFs are being used for corrections, the process for that workflow is outlined here.

This will outline the process to replace an entire component in Lakeside Scout.

Start by finding the title and clicking the trash can icon on the component card to remove that specific component. Please note that you must have your component or title checked out in order to delete and replace an entire component.

A popup confirming the deletion request will appear. Choose yes to delete the component and proceed. NOTE: Depending on file size, this could take up to a minute. A browser refresh may be required to see the title with the component deleted.

Click in the (+) Add Component area and choose the component you wish to upload the correction PDF files into from the list. In this example, Soft Cover is used.

In the Upload Pages window that opens, click Browse or drag & drop your file into the window. If uploading multiple files*, they will automatically sort alphanumerically based on filename. Note - Whenever you add new files to the list, either by drag & drop or browse, filenames will resort alphanumerically. If applicable, the thumbnail only contains an image for the first page in the PDF.

After files are successfully uploaded, they will be assigned in the same order as listed in the Upload Pages window - the same as a brand new title.

Once the file has completed uploading, preflight will immediately begin.

Any warnings or errors will be displayed on the component card. Reported preflight issues must be resolved before approving correction placement and proofs.

See the Review Preflight Results article for details on resolving reported preflight issues.

* Keep the following in mind when uploading 30 or more files at one time;

  • in order to maintain a desired page order, it is highly recommended to use an alphanumeric or numeric naming convention
  • use single-page PDFs only
  • for multi-page PDFs, use multiple upload sessions instead - limit each upload session to less than 30 files
  • the number of pages in a file is not displayed
  • rearrangement of file order is disabled
  • the Preview button is not displayed
  • see the release notes here for more detail
